Comentarios

La larga singladura de tres personajes de la escena rockin´ holandesa, conocidos como Joe Sixpack( a la guitarra), Miss Mary Ann ( al micro) y Sietse Heslinga ( a la batería), les llevaron a afrontar diferentes proyectos entre los años 1993 y 2008, todos ellos ampliamente conocidos por todos nosotros.
Este cd contiene una veintena de temas extraídos de de los diferentes trabajos de las tres bandas que nos ocupan, incluyendo algunos que han sido mezclados y remasterizados para la ocasión.Para que este trabajo no quedara en una simple compilación, se incluyen también algunas temas inéditos, así como algunas tomas alternativas también inéditas, como es el caso de “Hi De Ank Tum”, “My Adobe Hacienda” o “Rock-a-bye Baby”, (esta última, es una toma alternativa más rockin´ que la que apareció editada en el cd) .
Incluye, como no, algunas versiones, entre las que destaco las excelentes y explosivas lecturas del “I Got Stung” (vía Elvis) y “Rock It On Down To My House” (de Justin Tubb).Encontrarás entre todos los temas la suma de los diferentes estilos que han practicado en las diferentes formaciones en la s que han participado: rockabilly, country & western, hillbilly, preciosas armonías vocales y algún instrumental ( impresionante Mr. Sixpack en “Groosville”)

El cd se presenta en caja de cartón envejecido y con formato dvd desplegable.Los desplegables se completan por una banda con una serie de fotos a modo de collage y por otra con la enumeración de los diferente trabajos editados por las tres bandas ( incluyendo información del formato en que aparecieron y el pais de edición).

Das Auge hört mit. Und dieser Silberling schmeckt besonders lecker. Die Compilation mit Tracks aus den letzten 15 Jahren nämlich kommt in einer auffälligen DVD-Verpackung, die man sich wunderbar ins Regal stellen kann. Dass die Musik selbst auch noch unterhaltsam daher kommt, ist natürlich umso schöner.

Jumping from 6 to 6 review on the CD "Selections 1993-2008"

At the end, this cd is far more than just a best-of, it's almost a brand new album, sure to gain them new fans and please old ones like me, who, 15 years ago fell in love with the sound of the Ranch Girls and the Ragtime Wranglers and never stopped digging them since.

Met als stralend middelpunt van de belangstelling uiteraard de geweldige Miss Mary Ann, wat ons betreft zondermeer de beste vrouwelijke vocaliste, die de Europese retro roots scene te bieden heeft! Samen met haar vaste secondanten Joe Sixpack (gitaar) en Sietse Heslinga (drums) illustreert ze hier twintig nummers lang, waarom ze ook tot ver buiten de eigen landsgrenzen op handen wordt gedragen. Zelfs de waar het buitenlandse acts betreft immer kritische Amerikanen gaan bij bosjes plat voor dit attractieve Nederlandse opdondertje

De band speelde op talloze buitenlandse podia, nam op voor gerenommeerde internationale platenlabels en het mooiste compliment dat we ze kunnen geven is vaststellen dat ze in hun genre tot de allerbeste bands ter wereld behoren. Op sommige aspecten ken ik zelfs geen betere, zelfs niet uit de bakermat Amerika.
